What the MAP!?

More than 20% of Google searches are for a local business … when you factor in Yahoo and Bing this equates to 3 BILLION (yes … 3,000,000,000) searches per month in the US that have a local intent.  For Canada this still means a whooping 300,000,000 (300 Million) local searches per month.

This means for those searches Google.ca will show a MAP result. If you haven’t already claimed your map listing or have your place of business listed in the maps you are missing on the most important revolution in search.  This is SO important to Google that they have even started displacing organic/natural results with map results!

Go to this link http://www.google.ca/places/ to create/claim your map listing!

I just tried to do this, and Google said I had an incorrect address marker. I fixed it using their tool but I kept getting the same error. Frustrating!

    Hi Jessica,

I have never really seen this type of error before. As a general rule of thumb you do the street address 1st and then the unit/suite # … which is a little different than how most Canadian’s post their address. For example our address Canadian style is #209 – 8788 – 120th Street but in our Places we had to go with 8788 – 120th Street #209.

    Does that help?

I had to do it three more times but it finally worked – thanks!
