VCP - Visibility, Credibility, Profitability
I learned the VCP process through BNI. Visibility, Credibility, Profitability are the steps you need to go through when doing any new business venture. I have said many times that social media is networking and that networking is building relationships. Which means social media is building relationships.
As a start up what is the first step? Visibility is the 1st step, you need to be visible to build trust, you need to be visible to show you know what you are talking about, you need to be visible or you will be out of sight out of mind.
Next comes credibility and credibility can happen quickly but it can also take a long time depending on what your business is and your personality. Credibility has a lot to do with your people skills. Some have to work on this more then others. One thing is certain, in order to get credibility you have to be visible.
My friend Heather March from Greenstems Floral Boutique went through the 3 steps fairly fast. She is an awesome person who delivers awesome flowers. Because flowers are not a big ticket item the sales process is fairly easy and the risk involved for you as a consumer is low.
What does Visibility, Credibility, Profitability have to do with social media and internet marketing? EVERYTHING!
If you went to one networking meeting do you think you would get rich? Same is true about blogging. If you only ever posted 1 blog post do you think that would put you into the next league?
It is about being consistent and persistent. Educate and Entertain on a platform you own and control (your blog) and you will over time gain visibility, credibility and profitability. The key is to start. Starting seems to be the stumbling block for most though. If you are stuck for time then outsource.
