If You Plan Writing A Blog Post Is Easy.
Writing a blog post, how long does it take you to? For some, it’s 2-4 hours. Is that why you haven’t updated your blog in four months?
The biggest complaint I hear from my copy writing customers is that they don’t have time to keep their web sites current. For most people, this is because they are slow writers. I get that; it’s not easy for everyone. But it can be easier.
Want to learn to write a blog post in half an hour instead of half a day? You can find out how in my book (along with lots of other helpful information on being a better business writer). But for now, try these tips:
- Decide your topic before you start writing.
- Research your target customer and visualize that person before you start writing.
- Determine the main ideas of your blog post or article before you start writing.

Hey, did you notice how I said you should do all of these things before you start writing? This is why it’s taking you so long to write; you don’t know what you want to write about, or who you want to write it for!
Knowing who your reader is will help you write faster; you’ve already identified who they are and what they want. From there, it’s just about starting a conversation. Write as if you are talking to your customer in person. Then get someone (me?) to edit it for you. I suggest using an editor not only to make sure your writing is grammatically correct, but also to make you accountable for writing on a regular schedule.
Trust me, your audience will thank you. And then they’ll buy from you.
