Uganda announced squad for Black Stars clash next month

Milutin Sredejovic, the coach of the Uganda national team has finally announced a 30-man squad that will face Ghana Black Stars next month in their opening fixture of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier campaign.

The Cranes will likely to have their camp in Togo, where they will play against the Sparrow Hawks in an international friendly game before taking on giants of Africa in Tamale.

However, the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) believes that the training camp will take in West Africa to test the state of players physically and technically.

Uganda is right on track after breaking a 38 year old record by qualifying for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon next year between January-February 2017.

Richard ‘Olele’ Kingson, the former Ghana goalkeeper put his trust in the current Black Stars squad to win the next year Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Last time, when Black Stars won the continent biggest title was back in 1982, beating the host nation Libya on penalties and since then been waiting for a moment to be the champion of Africa for the fifth time.

The 38 year old have represented Black Stars in six Nations Cup editions, believing that the current squad is capable of winning the mega event next year in Gabon.

“I will definitely put my money on the Black Stars,” said the former goalkeeper during a press conference with the media.

They have a team with a lot of international experience players and after storming into the mega event with 14 points from six games, they surely had a chance to win it.

If the management plans well, I’m sure Black Stars had a great chance to bring back the title to Ghana, since they last did in 1982.

Final training session for Black Stars before Rwanda clash

 

Ghana Black Stars holds their final training session today at the Accra Sports Stadium at 15:30 GMT, according to the local media reports.

The training session was earlier announced to take place in the morning, but later on move to evening since the Rwandese are yet to arrive.

The Amavubi will arrive in Ghana on Thursday evening and will hold their first training session at the stadium around 16:00 GMT, but a slight change in their schedule indicate that they will reach Ghana on Friday.

However, there is a bad news for Ghana football match as the Ghanaian squad will be play without their captain, Asamoah Gyan and deputy skipper Andre Dede Ayew on Saturday against the Amavubi at the Accra Sports Stadium in the final group game.

Black stars has already qualified for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, having 13 points from five games, while Rwanda needs a win to make it to the next year mega event in Gabon.
