There is so many tips and strategies that will help elevate your blogging game. I decided to cover some of the most important time management strategies that I have developed in the course of the last few months to really get me blogging more efficiently.
Punctuation : Don’t Over-Punctuate
Today’s post is a punctuation rant. Let me start with a disclaimer – I actually really like using punctuation effectively. If you’re on our newsletter and have downloaded our free e-book on editing your own work, you can read all about my affinity for the serial comma. Get it here.

My gripe is with exclamation points and overuse of multiple periods…like when someone wants to tell you something but they’re afraid how you’ll react…so they just sort of write it…in an uncertain…indirect way… Continue Reading →
A few months ago, just as we were about to launch a new WordPress website, I received an email early one morning from the client telling me that one of his friends had tried to look at the site only to be redirected to some other completely different domain selling some weird product.
I went to the site myself and could find no obvious problem with it. Everything was loading properly and it looked great. It took me a while to discover that the website was redirecting to the unknown site only when people clicked on results from search engines. It did not happen if you went to the site directly. I realized then that I was probably dealing with a smart piece of malware. Continue Reading →
Business Blogging is no longer optional it’s critical. Ask any search engine optimization (SEO) person if fresh content helps search rankings and they all have to say yes. Yet I do not know one search company that provides fresh content for their clients’ sites. Blogging is part of SEO now.
Get your staff to blog for you and give them loose reigns.
Scenario 1
Employee A posts a blog that is totally false and misleading to the consumer. What is going to happen? The post goes public, and before you know it, comments are riddled all over the Internet. It may even start to go viral. Employee A will get fired, the company gets tons of negative exposure – but more importantly the company has the spot light and can show the world it knows what it is doing. If it can’t show the world that it knows what it’s doing, then they should keep a lock down on social media and business blogging. But what does this say about the company itself? Nothing good.
Scenario 2
Employee B is hired to write awesome blog posts This in turn creates new visitors to the company’s brand, which creates new clients over time.
Scenario 3
The company removes most restrictions. Outside of internal policies, there are also legal laws. If you break those, obviously you must pay the consequences. Imagine a financial guy blogging about an insider trading deal. That would be a fail, right? I would go so far as letting all employees blog on your company’s website. You should however have a copyeditor or trained HR manager proof the posts before they go public. Make your policies simple, easy and be as transparent as possible.

Hubspot statistics show the more your company blogs, the more business you get. 90% of companies that blog daily report new clients, and 70% that blog weekly report new clients. You can’t argue with statistics. Business Blogging works!
Business blogging has many more benefits to:
What are your thoughts about letting employees’ blog?
Here is your blogging checklist, like a flight plan there should be a routine or system to all your blog posts. Of course there is no point going over your flight plan or checklist without an airplane. First things first, get your self a blog.
Why on earth do I want to blog? The benefits and reasons are to numerous to fit into this post. The fact that Seth Godin says you should do it should be enough.
Your Blogging Checklist

By posting a blog 5X a week I knew my learning curve would be accelerated and if you know all this stuff you are certainly ahead of the masses. Good on You!
Inserting an image and setting it as the feature ensures that when the post is shared then that image is the one that shows as a thumbnail preview.

WordPress SEO By Yoast is my best friend here is a short video tutorial.
Couple of other things, please have share buttons on your posts and also have a call to action above the fold on your website.
What was one thing you got from this post?
Here is my call to action rant! If there is no call to action above the 1st fold telling your visitors exactly what you need them to do, you have a crap site.
I’m usually a pretty calm guy … I can take most stuff in stride and as a marketing agency we do our best to set expectations and work within the parameters our clients need us. But it feels like for the past few weeks I have had this rant building up.
If your website is crap it doesn’t matter if you’re #1 or #100 … it’s not going to work for you, it’s not going to get you leads, it’s not going to get your customers, and it definitely won’t make money for you. Continue Reading →

Here’s the secret formula for creating your value proposition
1. Start with a Headline: Continue Reading →
