Action Plans Are Executed Best When…

Action Plan

What is Your Action Plan?

A good action plan violently executed now is better than a perfect action plan executed next week: George S. Patton

Steve Jobs is quoted as saying that “often people have the disease of thinking that a really Action Plangreat idea or plan is 90% of the work.”  If that was the case then surely it’s the “idea” of the tablet or the Smartphone that revolutionized the industry. However while there are many tablets in the marketplace there can be no doubt that the one with the best execution, the iPad is the overwhelming winner! No wonder companies attempt to copy Apple’s product execution and yet because they can’t, FAIL!

Derek Siver nailed this when he wrote:

Ideas are worth nothing unless executed. They are just a multiplier. Execution is worth millions.

Explanation:

AWFUL IDEA = -1
WEAK IDEA = 1
SO-SO IDEA = 5
GOOD IDEA = 10
GREAT IDEA = 15
BRILLIANT IDEA = 20

NO EXECUTION = $1
WEAK EXECUTION = $1000
SO-SO EXECUTION = $10,000
GOOD EXECUTION = $100,000
GREAT EXECUTION = $1,000,000
BRILLIANT EXECUTION = $10,000,000

To make a business, you need to multiply the two.

  • The most brilliant idea, with no execution, is worth $20.
  • The most brilliant idea takes great execution to be worth $20,000,000.
  • That’s why I don’t want to hear people’s ideas.
  • I’m not interested until I see their execution.

What was the Vision you had for the business when you first started out – how far away from achieving it are you…? If you still have a ways to go, is that because of your idea or your execution?

Why Are The 10 Commandments Written In Stone? Why Does That Matter For You?

Content Vs Context. Why should the 10 commandments be written in stone?  Because we then never debate if “thou shalt not kill (the 6th commandment) or “thou shalt not steal” (the 8th).  The only thing that is up for discussion is whether we have lived to that standard or not.content vs context

This is the essence of context vs content struggle that often occurs when there is disagreement. We are arguing over content when context has not yet been established.

The context vs. content is like the metaphor of whether the wine or the wineglass is more important in appreciating wine. Before you answer that, consider this scenario.  Say you are going out for dinner to celebrate an achievement in life. Continue Reading
