Why Every Website Needs One of These…

By Randy Dueck

A Value Proposition. It’s a Headline on the front of your site that immediately separates you from the competition, and shows the value of what you do.

It’s not a tagline, it’s not a great pithy statement like “Love the Skin Your In” (L’Oreal) If you have a great level of clarity about the value of your business, creating a value proposition is an easy thing to do.

Here’s the secret formula for creating your value proposition

1.    Start with a Headline: Continue reading

Educate Your Viewers And They’ll Want To Buy From You

By Josh Rimer

If you’re wondering what you should do on YouTube to get more business, consider “how to” videos.  Not only is that one of the fastest growing categories on the site, but it’s also a great way to show of your skills, product, or service.  Online video audiences love to watch things that are unique, interesting… and educational.

When people see how well you know your stuff, how great your service is, or how useful your product is, you’ll be selling them on it, without them even realizing it.  Be generous with what you show and what you tell.  I was once asked to put on a webinar for counselors about how to make their own promotional web videos to put on their websites, and even though it was 100% value and I taught them everything they needed to do it themselves, a bunch of them still hired me afterwards because they figured that I had the training, the equipment, and the expertise to make it even better than they would themselves.

Short videos are Continue reading

Using Headings in Your Web Copy

By Jessica Oman

A heading is more than just a title. Headings make it easier to read on a screen. They make it easier to locate relevant information. They make it easier for Google to find you…if you use them correctly.

Headings in web copy are great for two main reasons:

1)      Readers scan them quickly, so you can put important content in them; Continue reading

Track Your Site!

By Sam Araki

What do Florida, Caffeine, Mayday, Boston, Fritz, Esmerelda, Jagger, False Alarm, Panda, Penguin, and 52-pack all have in common?

These are just a few of the names given to major updates Google has made to their algorithm over the years. In fact the 52-pack was just announced last week and included 52 “tweaks” Google made to the way they rank sites!

Some of these updates have little impact on the search engine result pages … others have a massive impact on where and WHY sites are ranked where they are. How can you stay up to date with the world of internet marketing … but most importantly its impact on your site?

There are 2 recommendations we would make that require little time investment but have massive value.

#1 – TRACK your sites position in the search results. If you Google Continue reading

Where The Streets Have No Name: 3 Landing Page Lessons From Costa Rica

By Dan Johnston

What good is Google Maps when there are no street names or house numbers?

This is life in Costa Rica. Cell + 3g access on the most remote beaches…but no roads to get to the beach. Granite countertops inside…and rusty barb wire fences outside.

Locked inside this dichotomy are a few valuable lessons on landing pages and selling online.

1) You can’t please everyone. Some people complain development is ruining the country. Others complain about the relaxed nature or lack of development. Still, there is a group that gets it and just love it here.

Your product will never be able to please everyone so don’t try and say it does on your landing page. Speak to the people who get it and ignore the rest.

2) Sometimes old, ugly or just plain weird actually works.  If your website is outdated but packed with personality and authenticity it may be doing you a favour. Think twice before you hire someone to turn it into a cookie cutter site or turn your personal message into corporate clichés. Depending on your industry and audience Continue reading

The Mastermind Principle: The Most Powerful Lesson in Life and Business

By Pete Banicevic

I’ll give Internet Marketing a break on this post.

The “Mastermind” concept is critical when it comes to business and can apply to anything in life.  In this case the “Mastermind” is NOT a genius in his or her discipline.  Instead,  Napoleon Hill defines it as: ”a mind that is developed through the harmonious cooperation of two or more people who ally themselves for the purpose of accomplishing any given task”.  I know this might seem like a simple concept, some might call it teamwork or synergy, but I can assure you, this critical business strategy  is far more complex and delicate than it seems.

Hill could be one of the most important authors of all time.  Most of you may have heard of his most notable work, “Think and Grow Rich” but not many people know of his first book written in 1928; “The 16 Laws Of Success” ( By far the most powerful course I’ve ever read).  To write this course, it took Hill 20 years of research and close relationships with world business leaders.  He came up with 16 lessons to live a happy, successful and meaningful life; the Mastermind is Continue reading

Stages of Content Curation

By Bosco Anthony

Content strategies have been a rising trend for any online presence. There are 7 key stages to content curation and strategy.

Keyword Research -This is when you determine what the popular demand is on keywords that could lead to your web presence. The more topics you cover around those popular keywords the better the chances of your listing appearing on a search engine results page.

Content Curation- Is the act of discovering, gathering and presenting digital content that surrounds a specific matter. The supply of information can come from various outlets and platforms. The more information you gather the more you can elaborate on. It’s important during these times to stay current.

Rules and Guidelines -This is a stage that determines the guidelines and parameters of your content. The expectations on how the content will be presented are just as important. This is where your content is created and finally ready to be passed on to the next phase. Continue reading

Oop’s I Made A Mistake!

By Owen Clark

Have you ever seen or had double or even triple postings of the same status update?

With so many options for posting content to social networks today I can see why some people get totally confused.  As nice as it is to not have to post to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ and Pinterest individually do you know how your social strategy is set up?

Here is a post I wrote in April 2011 to help you clean up the apps that are connected to your Facebook and Twitter.  By disconnecting certain applications it will stop the multiple posts and let you start fresh.

I have found that working from my website outward works best.  Like a wheel on a bike the hub should be your website.

For that reason I do Continue reading

By Kyle Oberndorf

A GREAT business coach, will have systems that will apply to all businesses on and offline in all industries. Although having a NICHE’ as a business coach is good, how can a coach who only coaches realtors (for example) add value to his clients if he/she coaches your competitors and gives them the same guidance and tools as he/she gives you?

A GREAT coach is a business GENERALIST and has vast experience in a variety of industries.

I hate to tell you this…but “You are all the same”!

I have talked to so many people that believe that their business is different and a coach can’t help them because “their business is unique”. REALLY? Business is business. It all comes down to 5 things you can control that result in 3 things that everyone focuses on.

Apply these 5 things to your internet marketing strategy as well as your offline strategy. Continue reading
